As one of the moderators for the Estes Park Cycling Coalition and Estes Park Bike Park facebook pages, I try to post fun and exciting photos and videos when I can.

A few days ago, I was called out on two videos I posted because the kids that were riding scooters and bikes were not wearing helmets. This concerned local was absolutely right. We should be the ones setting the example.

For the record, Colorado does not have a mandatory helmet law for bicycles.

That being said, the stance of the EPCC is that all riders, (bicycle, scooter, skateboard etc.) are strongly encouraged and should wear helmets at all times when participating in these activities. The science couldn’t be more clear that helmets reduce the chance of injury or death when in an accident.

So, from here on, our photos and videos will set the example.
