Or rather, YOU can sign up to volunteer to help build .5 more miles of trail.

Saturday September 28th (national public lands day), join the Larimer County Trails and Open Space folks from 9 am – 2 pm. They are looking for 25 volunteers to help build 0.5 miles of new single track trail at Hermit Park. This will be basic new tread construction for a multi-use trail that will get the current trail off of a gravel road and up on a hillside to provide a better experience and sustainability for the trail.

Estes Epic was held over the weekend with a mountain bike race of 25 and 50 miles on Saturday. The 25 mile race had 70 participants, with the longer race having 28.

Sunday had three events, a heavy half marathon, which had 35 competitors, a full marathon with 18 entries, and a 50 mile ultra run, which had six participants.

Developed by FC Bikes in collaboration with Bike Fort Collins the class addresses:

  • Why sharing the road is the safest alternative for both motorists and bicyclists
  • What’s legal and what’s not legal, for both motorists and bicyclists
  • Common crashes and how to avoid them
  • Why bicyclists “take the lane” and what motorists should do in response
  • How to navigate bicycle related infrastructure such as: sharrows, bike boxes, and green lanes.

Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive a Bicycle Friendly Driver certificate and sticker that can be placed on a vehicle.
